Hello, and welcome...
A friend of mine said to me the other day that if I wrote an indie blog of some kind he would surely read it. And that many others might become interested... so I thought I'd try my hand at it, especially after reading the article I just finished reading.
It would seem that our good friends at Monsanto Corp. are at it again, after they brought us such substances as: Saccharin(still highly debated as to it's health risks) and Agent Orange, and 'On February 22 2002, Monsanto was found guilty of ”negligence, wantonness, suppression of truth, nuisance, trespass, and outrage."' Under Alabama law the rare claim of outrage requires: “conduct so outrageous in character and extreme in degree as to go beyond all possible bounds of decency so as to be regarded as atrocious and intolerable in civilized society”.
Now, with their new corn strain MON863, which their study showed as completely safe, it has become clear that this new corn strain causes fluctuations in weight gain, and even more alarming can cause liver and kidney toxicity levels to increase which can lead to fatality. However, Monsanto claims that the corn is entirely safe, and that the fluctuations in biochemistry of rats fed MON863 corn vs normal non-genetically modified (GM) corn were "whilst some statistically significant differences were observed, these differences were not considered as biologically relevant since they fall within normal variation ranges.” however the newest study has indicated that "It appears that the statistical methods used by Monsanto were not detailed enough to see disruptions in biochemical parameters” and has concluded that these fluctuations are in fact relevant and suggest kidney/liver chemistry fluctuation, and that prolonged use of this corn can have serious health risks to humans.
NOW is where we actually begin discussing the topic of this blog. corporation. are they friend or foe? what degree of social responsibility should they have? should companies be more thorough in their examination of their products?
my opinion is that corporations are responsible for their actions and that reparations must be made when they have harmed the earth, and it's citizens. If corporations are extended all the rights of a person under law they they should also incur similar punishments. Put a few CEO's or members of a board of directors on trial for mass murder then hand out those life sentences, maybe even execute a few of those rich white duded for crimes against humanity and what not. MASS MURDER SHOULD NOT BE TREATED LIKE A PARKING TICKET! oh... I'm sorry about that. it's just that when a company has to pay a few hundred million dollars and it's yearly earning are in the billions, it doesn't effect them. more often then not they have the economic might to keep the lawsuits in court until the prosecutor runs out of money, and the suit is dropped, or they are just given a big fine. and that's the kicker. they send Enron CEO's to prison for stealing a bit of money. they give out bigger and better contracts to the ones that murder, cheat and steal.
mostly though, who are these people? and why do they do these things...
and who were their parents? and why did they instill morals in their children that said "lying is OK as long as it's for profit, and so is murder"?
Fuck Fascists.

I'm all for torturing pasty white guys; but shouldn't we first consider what's most profitable for society, not what's best?
